As we gear up for a summer filled with athletic prowess and sartorial splendour, all eyes are on Paris, as it hosts the 33rd edition of the Olympics. Following the unprecedented Tokyo Olympics of 2021, delayed by the global pandemic, the anticipation for this year’s games is palpable. The Olympics, revered as the pinnacle of athletic achievement, transcends borders, and unites nations in the spirit of competition and camaraderie.

This year’s games will represent a ‘combination of sports and style’ says Paris 2024’s brand director, Julie Matikhine. This comes as no surprise; it isn’t a secret that Paris is a city that champions all things fashion and style. This city is home to some of the largest luxury fashion brands in the world, such as Chanel and Hermès.

Furthermore, the visual identity of the games pays homage to the historic civil unrest of 1968, with the motto ‘Sous les pavés, les Jeux’ echoing the revolutionary spirit of the era. This fusion of heritage and modernity sets the stage for an unforgettable celebration of athleticism and culture.

In tribute to the Olympic rings, a timeless symbol of unity and diversity, we present our top five rings inspired by the iconic colours:

The History Behind Olympic Rings

The Olympic rings were designed in 1913 by Pierre de Coubertin, co-founder of the International Olympic Committee. They were designed to symbolise unity and coming together of athletes from all over the world. Contrary to popular belief, the colours don’t represent specific continents, but the five inhabited continents at the time. These were Africa, America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. In efforts to promote inclusion of all nations, the colours, in combination with the white background, can produce all national flags!

Rings Based on The Olympic Ring Colours

Blue Ring – Sapphire and Diamond Trilogy Ring

Representing the colour blue, we have our effortlessly opulent Sapphire and Diamond Trilogy Ring. This vintage-style beauty features a large sparkling sapphire, a favourite amongst the royal family. Sapphire rings are said to embody wisdom and nobility, making them a fabulous representation of the Olympics. A stadium filled with determined and noble athletes.
