Autumn has a way of changing how we dress. The lighter layers disappear, richer colours return, and suddenly jewellery has a very different backdrop of soft knits, tailoring, evening dresses and beautifully cut coats.
It is also a very good excuse to see what is new.
New pieces arrive throughout the year at Hancocks Jewellers and, although we try not to have favourites, there are always a few that get a little more attention when they first make it into the cabinets.
From pearls and yellow gold to colourful sapphires, emeralds and some seriously beautiful diamonds, these are seven of our favourite new pieces for autumn.
If you love yellow gold, this pearl and 18ct yellow gold bracelet could be very difficult to resist.
Nine Akoya cultured pearls are connected by a fine 18ct yellow gold trace chain. The warmth of the gold works beautifully with the soft lustre of the pearls, making this an easy piece to wear with everything from autumn tailoring to a favourite cashmere knit.
And pearls are having quite a moment again this season, although we would argue they never really went anywhere.
This is the type of bracelet you can put on in the morning and leave on for dinner that evening. The pearls have been chosen for their beautiful lustre, which changes subtly as they catch the light.
It really is worth seeing on the wrist.
Sometimes you do not want a halo, a cluster or a row of diamonds.
You simply want one exceptional diamond.
This diamond single stone pendant does exactly that. A 1.00ct round brilliant cut diamond sits within a four claw platinum setting, designed to leave very little between the stone and the light.
We love the simplicity of it.

The Georg Jensen Moonlight Grapes collection is instantly recognisable for its sculptural form, and this version combines polished sterling silver with deep black agate beads.
It also feels particularly right for autumn.
Wear it over a black knit, add a beautifully cut coat and let the pendant do the work. The black agate gives it presence without needing colour or diamonds to command attention.
For someone who likes jewellery to be part of the whole look, rather than simply the finishing touch, this is a very good place to start.
Ask someone to picture a sapphire and chances are they will immediately think of that famous deep blue.
This bracelet is a lovely reminder that sapphires have far more to offer.
Across two rows sit sapphires in pale blue, green, orange, purple and a whole spectrum of shades in between. Against an autumn wardrobe of black, chocolate, navy and deeper neutrals, the colour really comes into its own.
