Is Autumn the most romantic season to propose?

Summer may be renowned for being the perfect time to wed, but which season is best for making your marriage proposal?

As the weather turns cold once again, we start to look forward to the festivities that autumn and winter bring. When you think of Bonfire Night, Halloween, Christmas and New Year, you don’t automatically associate them with romance – but how would you feel if you were proposed to on one of these occasions?

We conducted our own consumer research and discovered that these festivities were much more appealing than you may have first imagined.

All I want for Christmas is you

We all know that Christmas is a time to show your loved ones just how much they mean to you, but our survey revealed that for almost a quarter of people it is also the perfect time to pop the question.

Imagine waking up and finding that instead of simply getting a present for Christmas, you were getting a life partner. You could keep your proposal private with your partner at first, then celebrate the happy occasion with all of your friends and family later on in the day. Who needs gold, frankincense and myrrh when you can have a stunning three-stone diamond engagement ring such as this?

Celebrate the New Year as one

People often struggle for New Year’s Eve ideas, we all want to welcome the New Year in a spectacular way, but aside from surrounding ourselves with our favourite people and sipping on the finest champagne, how can we make it a night to remember?

21% of people revealed that New Year’s Eve was the ideal time to propose. With fireworks already sparkling in the background, the countdown is the perfect time to ask. Instead of exclaiming “Happy New Year!” you can get down on one knee and reveal the most beautiful ring that your partner has seen all year – this brilliant cut diamond solitaire ring is sure to do the trick. Then you and your fiancée can toast the beginning of a new chapter in your life together.

Beautiful and unique

While Christmas and New Year remained popular occasions to get engaged on, we also discovered that 15% of people favoured a proposal on Bonfire Night. Asking your partner to marry you underneath a blanket of stars and fireworks is incredibly romantic, you can cosy up next to the bonfire that burns as passionately as your love for one another. A yellow diamond engagement ring like this is sure to out-sparkle even the brightest star.

Curiously, 8% of people weren’t scared of a Halloween proposal. While it’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, getting engaged to be married would make for a unique story. Instead of thinking of diamond-encrusted skull rings, we think a blood-red ruby engagement ring would certainly be a treat, not a trick, for this occasion.
